A kind and generous woman it was to her, his sister, that Major Edward Burleson turned distraught with grief after the death of his wife. His health rapidly declined and he died at her home in Austin, Texas leaving four orphan children. Elizabeth Sneed and her husband raised the three girls, Emma, Lily and Mary Burleson and one boy, Albert S. Burleson as their own.

Austin, Texas, July 14. Mrs. Lizzie Burleson Sneed, wife of Thomas E. Sneed and daughter of the late General Edward Burleson died here this morning. Her husband and two children Mrs. E.J. Byrne and Lieutenant Walter Sneed survive her.
