My GGG-Grandfather Alexander Burns of Irish decent was born in Middlesex Township, Bulter County, Pa. The son of David Burns(1787-1839) and Eilzabeth McCaslin(1797-1868). One of 4 children: Christiana, Margaret Jane(Brown) and George McCaslin Burns.
Alexander married Sarah McDowell(1820-aft.1860) about 1837 in Butler County, Pa. They had nine children: Robert, Pvt. John M., Henry Johnston, Hannah, William, Samuel, Lydia, James and Alexander.
After Sarah died Alexander married Margaret Jemima Thompson(1826-?) sometime after 1860 also in Butler County.
Alexander then married Margaret Black(1828-?) on November 06,1865, there were no children. Margaret Black had been married to Thomas Peters and had 5 children.
Alexander is buried in Glade Run Presbyterian Church Cemetery located at 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, (Middlesex Township), Butler County, Pa. 16059
