The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 1, 2010, at Fairview Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Hazelwood Family Cemetery.
Mrs. Hazelwood was born in Stoneville on February 14, 1919, a daughter of Willie A. and Mary Roberts Sands, both deceased.
She was retired from Spray Cotton Mill. She had been a member of Fairview Baptist Church since 1964 and was a faithful Christian until the end. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane Wigington of Stoneville; her sons: Rev. Thomas Lee Hazelwood and wife Dianne of Eden and Marshall Hazelwood and wife Mary of Eden; her sister, Mildred Joyce of Martinsville; her 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, King Marshall Hazelwood; her son, Melvin David Hazelwood; her sister, Ruby Sands; and her brother, Morris Sands.
The extended family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Marshall and Mary Hazelwood for their loving and devoted care of Thelma.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Sunday at Boone-Reynolds Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
