States during the War Between the States. He served as a private
in Company F, 15th Regiment Alabama Infantry. He was honorably discharged
at Staunton, VA, 26 February 1863 on account of disease of the heart.
During his long life he was vitally interested in people
and lent his support to many worthy causes for the benefit of the community
in which he lived. He went to Jefferson by wagon to get lumber for a
church. According to the minutes of the Old Bethel Baptist Church, he was
almost always the one chosen as messenger to represent the church at the

'Bessie.' He was a Master Mason of Castillion Lodge #141, and a Baptist
Deacon.

He married three other wives. In August 1905, he married Sarah Taylor
Weldon. On 4 June 1912, he married Elizabeth Jones; and 22 November 1915,
he married Nancy Allen Yates. He and all four wives are buried at the Old
Bethel Cemetery." biography submitted by Ruth S. Abbott of Canton

born in Alabama. Married Miss M.J. Bridges, came to Texas in 1870 and has a
