MURPHY William C. Murphy, 74, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at St. Ann's Hospital. He was the President of the Citizen's League of Struthers, Ohio and a City Councilman, 1st Ward of Struthers, Ohio, President of Local 2162 United Steel Workers of America and served on the staff of the International United Steel Workers of America, Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent of the Division of Safety and Hygiene, Deputy Director for the Industrial Commission of Ohio, Safety Manager for the City of Columbus Power Plant where he was retired. Bill also retired after 30 years from Youngstown Sheet and Tube. He was the president of Ocean's XI Fishing Club, an Auxiliary Policeman and enjoyed coaching Little League baseball and was an avid fisherman and hunter. Survived by loving wife, Ella; children, Calvin C. (Mary) Murphy, Bruce D. (Michele) Murphy, Ernest C. Murphy and Jill (Edwin) Santos; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Harold Murphy, Jr. Preceded in death by parents Harold and Florence Murphy and sister Bessie Murphy. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2005 at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, where family will receive friends 10-11 a.m. Interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
