She was born in Logan County on Jan. 20, 1934, to the late Cecil and Florence Dear Stevens.
On May 29, 1954, she married James Richard Burrey in Angola, Ind., and he preceded her in death Sept. 9, 1979. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Lynn Burrey Grimes; a sister, Darlene Nogle; and three brothers, Charles, Richard and Donald Stevens.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda (Tim) Peterson of Bellefontaine; a son, James R. (friend Marcia) Burrey Jr. of Bellefontaine; six grandchildren, Jeremy Burrey, Brad (Casey) Grimes, Breanna (Joel) Boysel, Tanner Peterson, Tate Peterson and Jenny Burrey; a stepgranddaughter, Lindsay Fittro; five great-grandchildren, Brady and Mya Burrey, Dane and Olive Grimes and Hollis Boysel; great-stepgrandchildren, Shelbie and Kaycie; and special nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters- and brothers-in-law.
A 1951 graduate of Rushsylvania High School, she had worked for the Logan County Engineer's Office and E.K. Core Bridge Company until she and her husband started a family. She later retired from Hardin Motors.
She was a member of the Zanesfield United Methodist Church and the Worthwhile Club in Zanesfield.
Pastor Gene Phelps officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial is in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.
