Mrs. Gertie Louise McWhorter, age 93, of Oneida, TN, departed this life Wednesday, July 16, 2019, at the Oneida Nursing Home and Rehab Center with family by her side. She was born December 20, 1925, in Oneida, TN, to the late Reason and Flora Mae Duncan West. She was a long member of the Byrges Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by her first husband, James Edger Strunk; second husband, Robert (Bob) McWhorter; infant child, George Billy Strunk; one infant brother; brothers Estel West, and Hastell West and wife Maxine; sons-in-law, David Lowe and Earl Lee Phillips; daughter-in-law, Janet Sue Strunk.
She is survived by her children, Flora Ann Lowe, Rosa Mae Phillips, Patsy Lou Phillips and husband Russell, Eddie Dean Strunk; sister, Mertie Mae West; brother, Jim Dobbs West; Fourteen grandchildren, Sherry Keeton, Mona Lisa Lowe, Robert, Ricky, David, and Danny Lowe, Tonda McCurdy, Wendy Bishop, April Smith, Allen Phillips, Jerry Phillips, Sandra Townsend, Connie Adkins and Eddie Strunk Jr.; 47 great grandkids, 54 great-great grandkids; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation, Friday, July 19, 2019, from 3:00 until the time of funeral service at 5:00pm in the chapel of Four Oaks Funeral home in Huntsville, with Bro. Dudley Harness officiating. Music will be provided by Regina Sharpe, Ashley Botts, Tasha Boshears, Sherry Keeton and McKinli Fortune. Interment will follow in the Sexton Cemetery in the Paint Rock Community.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
