Mr. William Audrey Humphrey, age 85, of Vidalia, died at his home on Monday, January 13, 2020 on his beloved wife's birthday.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a 1950 graduate of Montgomery County High School in Kibbee, and attended Brewton-Parker College. Mr. Humphrey has lived in Vidalia since 1952. He began his working career in 1952 at Thomas and Howard Grocery Wholesalers in Vidalia and worked there until 1957. Mr. Humphrey began his banking career in February of 1957 with Vidalia Banking Company and attended banking schools at the University of Georgia and Louisiana State University. He retired after thirty-two years in 1989 with First Union Bank in Lyons as Vice-President and Branch Manager.

He was a faithful member of the Smith Street Baptist Church in Vidalia since 1964, serving as Deacon and Treasurer, and was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.

He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Ruby Lee Coleman Humphrey; parents, Phillip Elzie Humphrey and Ettie Irene Hester Humphrey; two brothers, Elzie Humphrey and Jacob Cecil Humphrey; and three sisters, Mattie Mae Humphrey Pruitt, Avis Juanell Humphrey McDonald, and an infant sister, Betty Emily Humphrey.

Mr. Humphrey is survived by three sons, William Alan Humphrey, Daniel Lee Humphrey and wife Terri, and Thomas Mark Humphrey and wife Bobbie, all of Vidalia; four grandchildren, Lauren Audrey Humphrey Howard and husband Jay, Lindy Humphrey Arnold and husband Tyler, Lee Humphrey and wife Joanna, and Graham "Gray" Humphrey and wife Anna; five great-grandchildren, Lane, Colby, Palmer, Davis and Liam; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 15th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Chester Proctor officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
