Vance H. Jones
March 11, 1919 - November 25, 2005

Rapid City – Vance H. Jones, 86, died Friday, November 25, 2005, in the comfort of his home.

Vance, originally from Upton, WY where his family homesteaded on Inyan Kara Creek, attended business college, owned and managed Upton Lumber and Hardware after his father's death, and was a navigator in the Army Air Corps during WWII. After the war, Vance and his wife Pat (Descheemaeker) relocated to Billings, MT where he owned Grand Hardware until 1967.

Upon the sale of Grand Hardware, Vance and family moved to Rapid City where Vance worked for Building Materials Distributors, a division of Knechts, until his retirement. Vance was a hunting guide, avid fly fisherman, skilled aviator and, as a senior member of Arrowhead Country Club, enjoyed many frustrating rounds of golf with his fellow duffers.

Vance is survived by his children Douglas Jones of Billings, MT and Nancy Koch, Rapid City; his brother Chester Jones of Newcastle, WY; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Vance was preceded in death by his wife Pat, sister Betty, and parents Harold and Ida (Douglas) Jones.

No services will be held.
