He attended Wichita North High School where he played football and baseball. He dropped out as a senior and joined the Army Air Corps in March 1947. He was stationed in Salina Kansas before he deployed to Okinawa in April 1948. He returned in November 1949 at which time he left the military. In February 1948 he married his childhood sweetheart, Nadine Grett. She preceded him in death in July 1968.
After leaving the military he had several jobs in Wichita, joined the police force in late 1952 and remained with them for several years before resigning after his wife received several threatening phone calls. He then went to work for Standard Products in Tulsa Oklahoma and as a pilot he flew to small airports all across Oklahoma calling on clients. In 1962 he moved to Fort Worth Texas and went to work for Champion Spark Plug Company in the aviation division and after 19 years started working for Texas Utilities from which he retired in 1995.
After his wife died, he later found love again and married Annie Jean McCallum. They remained together for 46 years until she passed away in September 2015.
He was a 32nd degree mason, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to eat and was an excellent cook. He never met a stranger. He talked all the time and when asked what time it was he would tell you how to build a watch. Quite the story teller, and had a tendency to stretch the truth a bit!
He was predeceased by his parents, two wives, daughter in law Cindy Cline, son in law John Brandy, and two grandsons. He is survived by his blended family of five children, Richard Cline (Patty), Lydia Brandy, Mark Cline (Judy), Tim Hawkins (Gerardo), and Jana Comyford (Carl). Also surviving are 12 grandkids, 22 great grandkids, and 3 great great grandkids.
No services are scheduled as cremation has taken place.
