Don was President of the Glass City Tool and Die Company for 30 years. An active member of the community, Don served as a Monroe County Commissioner for more than 15 years, a Bedford Township Trustee for 4 years, and was Chairman of the Michigan Township Association of Monroe County. He was proud to have served with the United States Army during the Korean War. Don was an active member of the Olivet Lutheran Church where he enjoyed singing in the Senior Choir. He served as a Lay Minister at Oak Leaf Village for 5 years. Don was a skilled wood worker. He enjoyed making furniture and gifts for grandchildren. Don loved the out of doors. He spent many seasons hunting in the Black Hills. Friends might be surprised to learn that Don attended the Greenbrier Cooking School.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth Arnold; son, Paul (Lisa) Arnold; daughter, Ruthann (Jeffrey) Finch; daughter-in-law, Barbara Arnold, and grandchildren, Matthew, Elizabeth, Adam, Cailyn, Devin, Eric, Ryan, and Troy. Don was preceded in death by his son, Mark Arnold.
