Rev. W. A. Ruis, the Baker county preacher and planter, suspected of slaying his wife on the morning of February 2, committed suicide Wednesday afternoon at the home of a relative near Macclenny by swallowing a deadly poison, the authorities here learned yesterday. Rev. Ruis was recently returned to Baker county from the prison at Jacksonville, where he was rushed the night of the homicide to be incarcerated for safe keeping. A few days after his return to Baker county he was released on bail.
