Altoona Mirror August 5 1911 MRS. JOHN L ROE DEAD Wife of Third Ward Constable PassedAway at Mercy Hospital . The many friends of Mrs. Caroline F. Roe, w i f e of the third ward constable, will be shocked to learn of her sudden death at Mercy hospital at 9:10 this morning. Though she had been suffering from a complication of diseases for several months past, her condition was not regarded as dangerous by her family, and she was taken to Mercy hospital on Friday, July 28, with the hope and expectation that the treatment that she would received there would soon restore her to health. But the insidous advance of disease could not be checked and in spite of every effort she succumbed to her ailments. Mrs. Roe was the daughter of David and Mary Hare (ERROR) and born on her father's farm in Yellow Springs on July 1854. Here she spent her childhood and young womanhood and was united in marriage to John L Roe on September 25 1884 coming to Altoona a few years later where she has resided ever since. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church and was prominent in several ladies societies of the first Lutheran Congregation of this city. Her loss will be mourned by a large circle of friends in church and neighborhood for she was always found to be identified with every good work and word. She is survived by her husband and two brothers and one sister. Former Sheriff Adam L Hare of Hollidaysburg, Samuel L Hare of this city and Mrs. Alice Bossler of Clover Creek. The remains can be viewed at her late residence 1320 Sixteenth Avenue tommorrow evening. The funeral will be private and leave on the 10:25 train for Yellow Springs where internment will be made in the Lutheran cemetery.
