Mr. Charlie Heinen, 74, of Bandera, died Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at his residence. He was born Jan. 8, 1927, in Port Arthur, Texas to Harry Hubert and Florence Gladys Smith Heinen. Mr. Heinen was a Lutheran, and was an officer in the Merchant Marines during WW II, retiring after 21 years of service to his country. He married Margie Lee Henager on Feb. 3, 1969, in Conroe, Texas. She preceded him in death on Sept. 3, 2000. Survivors include two daughters, Sharron Gibson and husband Randell, of Brazoria, Rhonda Bratton and husband Billy, of Bandera; three sons, Roger Heinen of Bandera, Charles Heinen of Palmer, Ark., and Michael Heinen, of West Columbia, Texas; one sister, Jane Smith, of Lake Charles, La.; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Mr. Heinen was also preceded in death by a sister, Gladys Hollier, and a brother, Harry Heinen. Services were scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 11 at Grimes Funeral Chapel of Bandera, with Rev. Joseph Watson officiating. Interment followed at the Bandera Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brent Hollier, Brett Hollier, Kris C. Heinen, Harry H. Heinen III, Bubba Gibson and Randy Hollier. Honorary pallbearers were James Smith, Richard Smith, Gary Wright and Randy Zampini.
