Japanese Internee; Interned from New Caledonia 8th December 1941. Brother of Mazajiro Abe.; After having been transferred from New Caledonia, ABE was sent to Loveday on 28th February 1942. He was admitted to the Barmera Base Hospital on 24th November 1943, and died at the 34th Camp Hospital. Barmera, South Australia - 14th March 1942. Died of Dysentry at Barmera Base Hospital. Place of first burial: Barmera - 27th December 1943 and later re-interred in Cowra Japanese Cemetery.

Barmera, South Australia. 28th December 1943. At the end of the funeral ceremony of a Japanese internee at the Barmera War Cemetery the mourners place on the grave lighted candles and food and drink for the spirit's journey to celestial regions; a little water was sprinkled and a mosquito coil was left burning. The deceased was Setsujiro Abe from No 14 Camp of the Loveday Internment Camp Group.
