Debra L Van De Vreugde, age 51, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 17 at Kaiser Medical Center Walnut Creek, CA after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Sheboygan, WI, a 1973 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School, she moved to Livermore, CA in 1975 with her high school sweetheart and loving husband, Jim. Together they raised two beautiful children, Erik and Kristen.

She is survived by her husband Jim, son Erik (Sara) of Bakersfield, CA, and daughter Kristen. She is also survived by her parents Norm and Diane Worm, sisters Colleen (Bob) Reineking, Donna (Rick) Mulder, and their children: Amy and Brian Reineking; Lauren and Evan Mulder, all of Sheboygan Falls, WI.

She is also survived by her father-in-law Joe Van De Vreugde of Sheboygan Falls, WI; brother-in-laws John (fiancé Abbe) Van De Vreugde of West Bend, WI; and Joel (Christine) Van De Vreugde of Plymouth, WI, and their children: Kelly and Katie Van De Vreugde, and Ross Van De Vreugde. She is further survived by her special aunt, Elaine Worm, of Sheboygan, WI.

She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Dorothy Van De Vreugde; and Godparents Doris Domnie and Robert Worm.

For the past 15 years Debbie was employed through the Livermore School District, most recently at Livermore High School in food services as a senior food service assistant. She truly loved her work and cherished the many friends she made.

Debbie committed herself to the Livermore High Colorguard as a volunteer. She could always be counted on for endless fundraising, event chaperoning, uniform design, and wherever else she was needed.

Debbie was loved dearly and will be greatly missed. Her memory will remain in our hearts and will be forever cherished. As we celebrate her life she will be remembered as a devoted, strong, unselfish, and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. We have all been enriched with her friendship and her great sense of humor right up to the end.

Her family will always cherish the special care and compassion given to Debbie and them during her final days at Kaiser Medical Center. Especially the care provided by Kathy, Joan, Mary, Ariella, and all of her health care providers on third floor oncology.

Per her request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
