He was one of three Canadian soldiers killed when their open-top unarmoured all-terrain M-Gator vehicle struck an improvised explosive device on the main road, approximately 40 km west of Kandahar City. The incident occurred while the soldiers were conducting resupply operations between checkpoints near a forward-operating base at Sperwan Ghar in the Panjwaii district.
Sixty Canadian soldiers and one diplomat have died since Canada first sent troops to Afghanistan in 2002.
Cpl Bouzane is survived by his parents Fred & Moureen Bouzane, sister Kelly, grandmothers Lucy Bouzane and Cecilia Snook, aunts, uncles and many other family members. Both his grandfathers and an uncle had served in the Canadian Forces.
