"1845. Erected by William Crighton and Jane Mercer his wife in memory of her father James Mercer who died 12th Jany 1828 aged 78 years. And Grace Steven his wife who died 7th Nov 1840 aged 84 years. Also in memory of their children James Andrew Grace and Jane who all died in infancy. And Marjery Alexander who died 25th April 1837 aged 17 years. Also in memory of their children Andrew Crighton who died 29 September 1859 aged 42 years. David Crighton who died 4 November 1862 aged 41 years. And Janet Crighton wife of Peter Proudfoot who died at Kilconquhar, Fife 21 May 1866 aged 40 years. __ said Jane Mercer __nuary 1871 aged 81 years. ___ William Crighton __er 1874 aged 86 years."
Gravesite Details
When the photos were taken in September of 2015, the gravestone was leaning forward and listing somewhat. A large bit of broken masonry was set in front to prop it up, which also concealed a bit of the engraving.
