Although not proven beyond a doubt, there is a strong possibility that this is the gravestone of a native daughter of Scone, Christina Smith Scott.

Along with her twin brother, Robert Scott, Christina Smith Scott was born 14 February 1865 in Scone, to Isabella Small also of Scone, and Robert Scott, Sr of Bridgend, Kinnoull, Perthshire.

According to the 1871 Scotland Census, Christina Smith Scott is in the household of her father, Robert Scott, resident at Cross Lane in Scone, Perthshire, together with other family members as follows -

Cotton weaver Robert Scott, aged 40.
Wife Isabella Scott, aged 32 (this may be inaccurate, as her age was recorded as 28 in the 1861 census, 48 in the 1881 census, and 47 in the 1891 census).
Son, also a cotton weaver, Alex Scott, aged 16.
Daughter, Mary Scott, aged 14.
Son, James Scott, aged 12.
Daughter, Elizabeth Scott, aged 8.
Son, Robt Scott, aged 6.
Daughter, Christina Scott, aged 6.
Son, Thomas Scott, aged 2.

Gravesite Details

This "open book" motif memorial is found directly behind the Old Parish Church in Scone, nestled among the roots of a prominent tree. The gravestone has suffered some wear, and the decorative"book" face has separated from the main body of the stone.
