Irene Evon Ramona Danielson Abid was born on August 10, 1925 in Tacoma, WA. In 1947 she moved to Seattle to work for the Veterans Administration, where she met George E. Abid of Roslyn, WA, whom she married in Tacoma on June 19, 1948, and moved with to Washington, DC. In 1955, she and George had the first of three children and she began to devote the rest of her life to their family. Her humor and wry wit endeared her to all who knew her and she is remembered for her love of God and mankind. A beloved mother, grandmother and friend, she touched many lives. Irene died on Mother's Day, May 13, 2007. She is survived by her husband of nearly 59 years and their three children, George, Jr., Joanne Marie, and Nicholas Lee, their spouses and grandchildren: Anthony, Bridget, Holly, Cole, Emma, and Paige. Other surviving family members are sisters Dorothy Cruickshank of Tacoma and Evelyn Youngren of Bainbridge Island and sister-in-law, Connie Horner of Seattle, WA, and many wonderful nieces and nephews located in Washington, Texas, and California and Virginia. Irene will be inurned in Arlington National Cemetery, adjoining the place where George will someday join her to share their eternal rest together. Memorial contributions may be made to Brookside Gardens, 1800 Glen Allen Ave., Wheaton, Maryland 20902, Attention David Vismara.
