Husband of Grace Shirley (McGrath) Cain

Thomas Augustine Cain Jr. 81, a former resident of Lawrence, a recent resident of Coconut Creek Florida died on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at the North Broward Medical Center in Pompano Beach Florida.

He was born on November 22, 1931 in Lawrence to Thomas and Mary (Carroll) Cain educated in Lawrence local schools, he attended two years at Central Catholic high school and was a graduate of Lawrence High School.

In 1949 he entered into the Army National Guard attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class during the Korean War.

In 1959 he became a permanent on the Lawrence Fire Department. He is a second generation firefighter his father Thomas A. Sr. was a Captain on the Central Fire Station in Lawrence, who also worked hand-in-hand with his father for many years, he worked up until his retirement in 1982.

He loved fishing, spent every summer with this whole family at Salisbury Beach he was a history buff especially anything involving the war. He loved sharing his home in Coconut Creek Florida with his children and grandchildren which we will all miss him terribly. He was an active member in the American Legion in Florida and also the Concordia Club in Lawrence.

He leaves his wife Shirley (McGrath) Cain two children, son Daniel T. Cain and his girlfriend Leta Romano of Methuen and daughter Colleen E. Bell and her boyfriend Barry Tardugno of Salem, NH, grand children: Derek E. Bell, Ryan T. Bell and Jake Cain. His sister Mary (Cain) Canto of North Andover and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 11:00AM at St. Monica's Church in Methuen.

Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence. Friends may call on Friday from 4 to 8 PM at the John Breen Memorial Funeral Home Inc. 122 Amesbury Street, Lawrence, MA, 01841.
