James Edward Litten, 76, of Dawson, died early Sunday in Connellsville State General Hospital.

He was a retired miner. He was born Oct. 5, 1887, in Fulton County, a son of the late Johnathan H and Margaret 'Maggie' (Ritenour) Litten. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Connellsville.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Estalene) Cable and Mrs. Donald (Grace) Newell of Dawson; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Harvey of Mather. His wife, Pearl "Lottie" (RICHTER) Litten, preceded him in death.

The body is at the Landymore funeral home at Dawson, where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Kent A. Lighthall officiating. Interment will be in Cochran Cemetery.
