LYNN MARINE, 25, KILLED BY GRENADE IN VIETNAM

A 25-year old marine who formerly served in the Navy has been killed in action in Vietnam where he was assigned to an engineering battalion.
Cpl. David A. Chisholm, son of Mrs. Kathleen N. Chisholm, 22 Paradise Road, Swampscott and Colin F. Chisholm, 19 Floyd Ave., Lynn died on March 15 at a station hospital in Da Nang.
Cpl. Chisholm's death was attributed to head wounds sustained on Thursday when he was struck by grenade fragments inflicted during an enemy attack on his company as it was returning from an engineering project.
He was assigned to Co. D 7th Engineering Bn. of the First Marine Division and had been in Vietnam since July 1967.
Cpl. Chisholm entered the Marine Corps in March 1966 after two years of service in the Navy.
A graduate of Pickering Junior High and English High, he was a member of the track team in high school. He joined the Naval Reserve while in high school. Upon graduation he had been employed by the Signal Manufacturing Co. of Salem prior to entering the service.
Cpl. Chisholm was born in St. John, New Brunswick.
He also leaves two brothers, John D. Chisholm of Lynn and Spec. 5 James R. Chisholm with the Army at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Md.., two sisters, Elizabeth and Judith Chisholm of Swampscott, a niece and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral plans are incomplete.
