Spec. 4 John L. Ramsey, son of Mrs. Olive E. Callahan, 79 Adams St., died May 25 as a result of wounds received when his helicopter crashed after being struck by enemy fire near Chu Lai.
He was the 13th Lynn serviceman to give his life in the Vietnam conflict, and the 45th from the North Shore.
An earlier telegram from the Department of the Army had informed Mrs. Callahan that her son was officially listed as missing in action following the combat operation. a Telegram received yesterday officially confirmed his death.
Ramsey was born in Lynn and attended Cobbet Junior High.
He enlisted in the Army July 7, 1967 and after receiving training at Ft. Dix, N.J. and Ft. Eustis, Va., left for service in Vietnam Jan. 18.
Prior to entering the service he was employed at Orbit's Department Store in Lynn and had also been formerly employed at the Hoague-Sprague Corp. of Lynn.
He also leaves a brother, Paul A. Ramsey, who is stationed with the Army in Georgia; three sisters, Mrs. Sharon Pahlm, Mrs. Theresa Ellis and Mrs. Katherine Converse, and his grandmother, Mrs. Anna C. Ramsey, all of Lynn.
