Harry is the youngest child of William Thomas and Anne Josephine O'Hare Gorman. He was born when the family was farming in East Grove Township, Lee, County, Illinois. Harry married Grace Connor in Ohio, Illinois. They had two children, Joseph and Dennis. Harry owned and operated the Standard Oil Bulk Plant in Walnut where the family resided.
