Oscar L. Midgette, the son of Harvey & Hilda Midgette, Sr., was born in New Bern, North Carolina, January 30, 1941. He attended Belhaven Elementary School and Belhaven High School in 1960. Oscar entered U.S. Army Quartermaster School in Fort Lee, Virginia after which he served in the Vietnam Conflict, he was honorably discharged in 1970. Oscar came to Staten Island from Long Island August 1997. He died July 3, 1998, at home in Staten Island, New York.

Oscar leaves to cherish his memories his wife Juanita M. Midgette; daughter Sheila Midgette of Staten Island, New York and two sons. His mother Hilder, two brothers Samuel and Willie; three sisters; Annie, Ella and Betty; Nine grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
