CONNOR, ROBERT, E., 73 - of Brigantine, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 after a lengthy illness. Robert was born in Philadelphia and he lived in Lansdown, PA, before before moving to Brigantine in 1979. Bob worked for ARCO for 25 years, he retired in 1977. He was also a self employed optician and he was employed at Nuvision and Lenscrafters Opticians until his retirement. He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, having served as Grand Knight of the Santa Anna Council 4461 in Lansdowne and Council 7020 in Brigantine. He also served as District Deputy of the Trinity Chapter for the tri-county area in Delaware County PA. Bob was a member of the 4th Degree Rev. Dr. John T. Sheehan OSA Assembly 662 where he was active in the color corps. He served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959. Bob was also a member and usher at St. Thomas the Apostle R.C. Church and he was a member of the Brigantine Elks Lodge #2428. He enjoyed supporting the majority of the VFW and American Legion Events even though he was not eligible to be a member.
Mr. Connor along with his wife of 52 years, Elaine were foster parents to 13 children through Catholic Social Services.
He is survived by his wife, D. Elaine Connor (nee' Robinson), a daughter, Terry Fetrow (John); sons Robert M. (Melissa) and Andrew J. and a sister Kathleen Bates (Jerry). He is also survived by his grandchildren John, Kristen and Stephen Fetrow, Julie and Erin Connor; his nephew Michael Bates and his niece Maureen Bradley (Chuck).
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bob's Life Celebration and visitation Friday, June 15, at St. Thomas Church 8th Street and Brigantine Avenue, Brigantine from 10 a.m. to 11:15., Elks Service 11:15. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30.
Interment Monday June 18 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon.
