Delta J. Edwards passed away May 4, 2019 at home in Kansas City, MO.

Memorial Service at 12pm on Friday May 17th with visitation one hour prior at the McGilley & Sheil Chapel, 11924 E. 47th St., KCMO 64133. Interment following the service in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Delta was born on September 7, 1928 in Tonganoxie, KS; the seventh of eight children born to Josie M. Campbell Farris and Marion L. Farris. She was raised in Basehor, KS and attended Basehor High School and KC Kansas Community College.

Delta was married to Robert E, Edwards on August 14, 1947 and was a loyal wife for over 65 years until his passing on December 14, 2012.

As a mother of four, she always showed unconditional love and acceptance. Happy to serve her family, she asked very little for herself. As a good listener she was able to stay aware of her family’s needs (and deeds). Delta said little, but knew a lot. Her quiet, calm temperament enabled her to lead by example.

Faith in God and consistent loyalty to her husband were her proven keys to success. She was a true and loyal follower of Christ and for many years was consistently in fellowship at Trinity Independent Baptist Church.

As a school bus driver for over 30 years, Delta had the ability to be tough when necessary. She once had to steer a busload of children to safety as the brakes failed on a busy freeway. She prayed and steered at the same time, her usual method of operation. Delta received a special award for her heroism by a local radio station. For 15 years she was also a successful real estate agent developing many lasting friendships in her community.

Delta was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and six of her seven siblings.

She leaves one sister, Virginia Farris Brigman of Converse Texas; four children, Robert H. Edwards, Delta Earlene Edwards Flewelling, Perry L. Edwards and Kathy R. Edwards Drews. She also leaves many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, all who were adored and cherished by her.

Sincere thanks to helpful friends who have assisted us through this process. Memorial contributions to trinity Independent Baptist Church, 4501 Pitman Rd., KCMO 64133.
