Hobe was a life long and respected member of the Ohio community. He was raised on a farm about three miles north of the town of Ohio on County Line Road. He was the grandson of Fenwick Anderson and his wife, Jeanette Peek Anderson. Jeanette's mother was a sister of Mrs. John Deere. Hobe's father, Charter, married Lorena Doran. They had 4 children, Hobe, Raymond, Edward C. and Giles.
He married Juliana Swain in Peoria, Illinois 25 Jun 1927. They had 5 Children: Margaret Carol, Swain Edward, Thora Lorena, Carol Margaret and Freda Maude.
Hobe died at Perry Memorial Hospital from complications of pneumonia. At the time of his death he was owner of the DX filling station in Ohio.
