Linda Marie Crabtree Rains was born December 30, 1945, the fourth daughter of Ross and Mary (McCrory) Crabtree in Clark County, IL.
Linda spent her elementary years at Crowe Liberty, and West Union schools. She graduated from Hutsonville High School, Class of 1963.
Linda went to Bloomington, IL after graduation, where she worked for an insurance company for four years. In 1967, she returned to Terre Haute to Long's Beauty School. She worked as a beautician for a couple of years.
After meeting Roble, who was in the military at Holman Airfield in Terre Haute, they were married on December 14, 1969. And then their adventure began. In no particular order, they were stationed in Michigan, Florida, Colorado, Arizona, Texas, Germany, and Alabama, where Roble retired after 22 years of active duty in the Air Force.
After settling in Alabama, Linda worked as a secretary for several years, retiring from Memorial Presbyterian Church.
May 27th, 1971, they were blessed with their daughter Erika Joann.
Linda was a member of Mt. Olive Church for several years, and then Eastmont Baptist Church of Montgomery, AL. She enjoyed reading, family genealogy, and cruises with the family.
Linda suffered a massive brain bleed in April 2017. God gave her another nine months with her family, and then called her home on January 30, 2018.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, sister Joan Cornwell, and nephews Paul Allen and Doug Cornwell.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Roble, and their daughter Erika, sisters Zelpha (Charles) Rains of Robinson, IL, Betty Brown of Terre Haute, IN, brother Larry (Linda) Crabtree of West Union, IL, and sister and brother-in-law Thomas and Marsha Rushing of Ponce de Leon Florida, two special aunts, Doris Dolson and Sylvia McCrory, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
