Deverl 'Doc' Jefferies, was the son of Isaac and Golda May McEntyre Jefferies born in Kosciusko County. He had two sisters, Reatha (Ballenger) and Bernice L. (Ballenger). "Doc" graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1937. He was married to Martha Maxine Kalmbacher, 12 Oct 1940, in Logansport by the Rev. Edward DeWitt. They had two children, Kent D. and Janelle Jean. Deverl was a farmer that raised Holstein cattle and grew wheat, soybeans and corn, east of Rochester. "Doc" served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed fishing for bluegill and bass.
