He married Lorraine Goodroe of Philadelphia, Pa (d. October 2021).Lorraine attended Pennsylvania School for the Deaf. Both are buried in Philadelphia, Pa. with a flat headstone sculpted of two "I love you" hand-shapes, an indication of deaf culture.
He was inducted into the Hall of Fame, 2007 at VSDB same year of his death.
