Grandson of Walker and Mary Graham Lewis who lived near White Plains, Ga., and of Gen. John G. and Elizabeth (Davis*) Moore, who lived near Sharon, Ga. Graduated Emory College, A. B. degree, 1874. Began the practice of law in 1876. Married Dec. 9, 1881, Amazon Elizabeth Moore (born Mch. 1, 1860), dau. of James P. Moore. Children: Josiah W. Lewis, Eatonton, Ga.; Robert Henry Lewis Jr., Pine Bluff, Ark.; Wm. C. Lewis, Charlotte, N. C.; Frank C. Lewis, Jacksonville, Fla.; James M. Lewis; John C. Lewis; Mrs. G. W. The parents and grandparents of Jefferson Davis owned plantations near Raytown, GA in the early 1800's. Betsy Elizabeth Davis stayed on the plantation and married John Moore of Raytown (then in Warren Co., later in Taliferro Co.) on May 24,1805. Betsy was the aunt of Jefferson Davis who, was born in Kentucky only a few months after his parents left Taliaferro County
