Jean S. Hamer, 66, a lifelong resident of Brookfield, died on July 28, 2015 at Adventist LaGrange Memorial Hospital.
She was a 1967 graduate of Riverside-Brookfield High School.
Ms. Hamer retired in the late 1990s from her receptionist position at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois after working there for more than 25 years. She enjoyed socializing with her many friends.
Ms. Hamer is survived by her husband, Porfirio "Freddie" Barragan, and her aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary (nee DiGiovanni) Hamer.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on Aug. 1, 2015 at St. Louise de Marillac Church in LaGrange Park followed by a private commital.
