He attended Saint Francis College in Biddeford, Maine, and Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, a devoted Catholic, he attended Mass at the Infant of Jesus Shrine, enjoyed fishing, hunting, fly tying and was an avid flint knapper. He was the son of the late F. Andre and Murielle Abbatte; and is survived by his brother Gregory Abbott DDS (Beth) and sister Cathleen Nixon (Donald); he was the father of Gerard Phillip Abbatte II (Dawn), Gina Lawrence, Rebecca Campbell, and Michael Abbatte; grandfather of Dylan, Colin and Tyler Lawrence, Ashley, Kailee, Conner and Tessa Abbatte; and lifelong friend to Bob Fish.
