Roy Norman “Norm” Greenhalgh , 82, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Dec. 1, 2016 in Nephi, from complications of surgery.
He was born Aug. 4, 1934 in Nephi, to Roy William and Mildred Anna Heelis Greenhalgh.
Norm started working in the restaurant business at the age of 14 and eventually owned and operated Norm’s Snack Shack (aka) Mickelson’s and also Greenhalgh Catering.
Norm married Lois Ann Phipps Nov. 3, 1952 in the Manti LDS Temple. She passed away April 6, 1995. He later married Ilene Garlick June 27, 1998 in the Manti LDS Temple.
He was the Juab County Justice of the Peace for 10 years, also served in the Lions Club, Jaycees, and as a lifeguard in Nephi. Norm was an active member of the LDS church and enjoyed being an ordinance worker in the Manti Temple for 13 years.
He was an avid outdoors man and loved hunting, camping and riding motorcycles. Supporting his grandchildren’s sporting and school activities was one of his greatest pleasures while eating caramel marshmallow malt. The best part of the day was watching Wheel of Fortune.
Survived by his wife, Ilene Greenhalgh of Mt. Pleasant; children, Kerry Jon (Marie) Greenhalgh of Logan; Scott Roy (Christi) Greenhalgh of Orem; Kirk Norman (Laurie) Greenhalgh of Layton; step-children, Wendy Knouse of Springville; Alisha (Charlie) Cooper, Overton, Nevada; Angela (James) Mitchell, Ftn. Green; Casey (Jill) Anderson, Fairview; Tyrell (Melissa) Anderson, Mt. Pleasant; son-in-law, Dennis Stuart, Sandy; siblings, Richard (Arlene) Greenhalgh, Nephi; Dale Lyn (Linda) Greenhalgh, Nephi; sister-in-laws, Erma Jean Greenhalgh, Nephi, UT and Phyllis Greenhalgh, Richland, WA; 24 grandchildren and 12 step grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Rebecca Ann Greenhalgh; son, Michael N. Greenhalgh; wife, Lois Greenhalgh; brothers, Gary Greenhalgh, Wilber Greenhalgh, Neal Greenhalgh and an infant sister; daughter-in-law, Kelly Rae Greenhalgh; grandchildren, Jordan Roy Greenhalgh and Shalom Adelle Greenhalgh.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 at noon in the Mt Pleasant Stake Center (295 S. State Street), with a viewing prior to services at the Stake Center.
Interment in the Nephi City Cemetery.
