Ralph G. Davis, long-time resident of Des Plaines, was born January 10, 1923 in Norwood Park to the late Ralph G. Sr. and Gertrude Davis and passed away January 25, 2015. After serving in the Army during WWII Ralph and his wife Virginia began a marriage spanning over 66 years. He was also very active with Presbyterian churches in both Norwood Park and Des Plaines. Ralph retired after a career with Skil Power Tools. His retirement was quickly replaced by a 2nd career with Budget Car Rental. Cars and driving were among his great joys. Over the years he owned a succession of Fords, and later in life took great pride in the 1965 Mustang which he drove in the Des Plaines 4th of July parade. Vacationing along the shores of Lake Michigan, jazz music, auto racing, the Cubs and chocolate ice cream were lifelong favorites as well. Ralph was the beloved husband of Virginia L. nee Lear; loving father of Gary (JoAnn Johnson) Davis, Bob (Kristine) Davis and Bill (Bruce) Davis; cherished grandfather of Erik Davis, Michael (Diane) Davis, Terri Reifsteck, Jill (Nick) Monahan and Paul Davis; great-grandfather of Griffin, Elena, Savannah, Kayla, Giovanni and Virginia and dear brother of the late Margaret Glader. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 3-8 PM at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street (Northwest Hwy/ Rt. 14 at Rand Road), Des Plaines and at First Presbyterian Church of Des Plaines, 1755 Howard Street, Des Plaines, on Thursday, January 29 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service 11:00 AM. Interment will be in Saugatuck, Michigan.
