HARLEY HUGH MARKHAM, 81, died Tuesday morning, October 21, 1975, in the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Lake City after an extended illness. He was born in Columbia County, living in the Lulu and Lake Butler communities most of his life. He was a World War I Veteran and a member of the Methodist Church.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mamie Markham of Lake Butler; two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Regier of Hinderson, Nebraska, and Mrs. Helen Scot of Ft. Lauderdale; one son, Rudolph Markham of Gainesville; five step-daughters, Mrs. Lettie Deas of Jacksonville, Mrs. Juanita Mikell of Branford, Mrs. Wilma Allen of Lake Butler, Mrs. Malovene Elrod of Archer, and Mrs. Ruby Lee Henry of England; three sisters, Mrs. Donna Ward of Lake Butler, Mrs. Delma Pearce of Jacksonville, and Mrs. Lola Douglass of Belle Glade; one brother, George Bloomer Markham of Columbia City; 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2pm in the Chapel of Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler, with Rev. Leman Ward officiating.
Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery (Swift Creek).
