Sammye Dina Smith, age 74, of Linton, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, March 31, 2019, at her residence. She was born in Chicago, IL on April 6, 1944, the daughter of the late Howard Dina & Grace (Buck) Heller. She had lived in Bloomfield before retiring in Linton with her loving husband of 26 years, Bruce.
She is survived by her husband; son, Jon (Paula) Hodge of New Goshen, IN; daughters, Angie (Trent) Harting of VanWert, OH, Sammye Fish of Linton and Robin (Eric) Waggoner of Lyons; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and her brother, Buck Wall of Fountain Valley, CA.
She is preceded in death by her sister, Dorine Stutchel.
Sammye was a local artist who, after attending Proviso High School in Chicago, attended the Art Institute of Chicago. She later moved to Bloomfield where she was the town "Meter Maid" as well as continuing her artwork.
She had many exhibits to show off her wonderful artwork over the years. These exhibits were located around the central and southern parts of the state...
Per Sammie's wishes, there will be no public services.
Friends may make memorial donations in Sammye's name to the Greene County Humane Society at 1026 N 1375 W, Linton, IN 47441 or through the funeral home.
