TEWKSBURY - Anne R. (MacDonald) Mallahan, 82, longtime resident of Tewksbury, died Saturday October 20th at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was the wife of the late John J "Jack" Mallahan whom she was married to for 55 years prior to his death on March 25th 2006.
She was born in Malden, September 16, 1930, daughter of the late John F. and Margaret (Kelley) MacDonald. She was raised in Cambridge and attended Cambridge schools.
Mrs. Mallahan resided in Tewksbury since 1963, where she was a communicant of St. William's Church.
Anne devoted her life to raising her family. Once her children had grown she took on the role as a second mother to all her grandchildren and enjoyed Friday night bingo at St. Williams with her sister Evelyn and her long time bingo partner Freda Gkolias.
Mrs. Mallahan is survived by seven children, John J. Mallahan Jr., Marguerite "Peggy" Morris, Maureen A Crowley and Joan L. Stanley and her husband, Robert, all of Tewksbury, James F. Mallahan and his wife, Christine (Holland) of Dover NH, Thomas P. Mallahan and Charles W. Mallahan both of Londonderry, N.H. She is also survived by her sister Evelyn Taylor and her husband Roy of Amesbury, MA; two beloved nieces, Brenda Varitimos and her husband George of Hampton, NH and Jane Charity and her husband Edward of Windham, NH and several nephews and their spouses; 16 grandchildren; and 6 Great grandchildren. She was also mother of the late Joseph Mallahan, grandmother of the late Kristen M. Mallahan and Michael J. Mallahan, and sister of the late John " Buster" MacDonald and Robert MacDonald.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 23, in St. William’s Church, Tewksbury.
Burial followed at Tewksbury Cemetery.
