Emera Frederick Sheel, son of Frank and Elizabeth (McCluskey) Sheel was born near Moline, Kansas October 16, 1901. He departed this life at Sedan City Hospital April 9, 1978 at age 76.

He graduated from the Moline High School in 1921 and was quite active in the Moline Alumni Association.

He was united in marriage to Opal Criger May 12, 1926. to this union were born three children. Emera spent the first eleven years of their marriage farming in Elk County. They moved to Moline in February 1937 where he was a feed and grain dealer until retirement.

He was a member of the Moline United Methodist Church.

He was a kind and affectionate husband and father and was especially fond of his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who loved him dearly.

He enjoyed visiting with his friends and neighbors and enjoyed working for the best interests of his community. He served on the shcool board and as a councilman, then mayor and was an active member of the Elk County Rodeo Association.

He is survived by his wife, Opal, one daughter, Mrs. R. W. (Ruth) Hisle, two sons, Eldon and Harold, all of Moline, one sister, Mrs. Reka Stuckey of Hutchinson, Kansas, eight grandchildren, Linda, Richard and Gary Hisle; Carl, Patricia, William, Sandra and Mary Sheel, two great grandchildren, Melissa and Brian Hisle.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, in the Moline United Methodist Church with the Rev. Harold Jensen officiating. Mrs. John Wilson sang two solos, accompanied by Mrs. Roy Olson.

The casket bearers were Howard Suiter, Roy Olson, Dr. R. E. Williams, David Moralez, Tom Musgrave and John Bacus.
Burial was in the Moline Cemetery, with arrangements by Watt Funeral Home.
