Woman Perishes, Husband and Two Daughters Burned
Sparta, Ga., July 8 – This community was shocked last night at the accidental burning to death of Mrs. Frank G. Thomas, one of the most prominent ladies of this city. Mrs. Thomas was engaged in household duties and for some purpose had lighted a piece of paper. She threw it down and put her foot upon it to extinguish it. The burning paper set fire to her dress and in a minute she was enveloped in flames. Her husband reached her with a blanket and made every effort to smother the flames. Her two daughters joined their father in the attempt to save their mother's life and were all badly burned when they had succeeded in extinguishing the flames. Mrs. Thomas was so badly burned that all medical efforts were of no avail and she died in a few hours. She leaves a husband and nine children, W.W. Thomas, editor of The Ishmalite, being her eldest son.
