Lloyd A. Danielson, 90, of Hibbing, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 10, 2008, at Guardian Angels Health and Rehabilitation Center in Hibbing. He was born on Aug. 26, 1917, in Hibbing, to Alfred and Mary Danielson.

He was a lifelong resident of Hibbing. Lloyd was a 1935 graduate of Hibbing High School, Hibbing Junior College and the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. He did post graduate work in 1948. After graduation, Lloyd worked for the Electro Manganese Corporation in Knoxville, Tenn., in quality control. He returned to Hibbing to work for the Oliver Mining Company in various positions, including chief chemist. He completed 38 years of association with the U.S. Steel Corporation in 1980 as the head of the Quality Control Department at Minntac.

Lloyd was a veteran of World War II, having served with the 15th Air Force in North Africa and Italy. He was discharged in 1945. He was a member of the DAV, Hibbing Masonic Order, the Scottish Rite Bodies of Hibbing and Duluth, the AAD Temple Shrine of Duluth and the Range Shrine Club. He was also an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hibbing, having served as an elder. Lloyd was an avid golfer and enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of the Mesaba Country Club and was the runner up in the Northwest Invitational Tournament in 1951.

Lloyd is survived by his wife of 56 years, Harriet J. (Fisher) Danielson; children: Susan (Tomas Klaseus) Danielson, and Brian (Suzanne) Danielson; grandchildren: Ryan and Brett Klaseus, and Kristin and Megan Danielson; niece, Marianne Kerr; and nephew, Calvin Kerr.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Mary Danielson, and a sister, Loreen Kerr.
