Jack Randolph Belcher, 79, of 505 Kee Street in Princeton, died Monday, November 7, 2011, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Beckley, WV. Born March 30, 1932 in Anjean, WV he was the son of the late John W. "Clyde" Belcher and Annie Mae Steele Belcher. Jack was a retired Sgt. Major with the U.S. Army, serving as an Operations and Intelligence Specialist. Serving three tours in Vietnam during his military career, Jack received a Purple Heart, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Meritorious Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Bronze Star Medal with V Device with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal with 3rd Oak Leaf Cluster, National Defense Service Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, and the Presidential Unit Citation. Jack was also the R.O.T.C. Instructor for Mercer County , WV Schools with twelve years service. He was a former member of the Princeton Moose Lodge #1521 and Princeton Elks Lodge #1459. In addition to his parents, his wife, Barbara Strickline Belcher, preceded him in death on July 3, 2011. He was also preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Survivors include three sons, Donald Belcher and fiance Irene Tovar of Raeford, NC, Jack R. Belcher and wife Suzanne of Booneville, NC, and Matthew J. Belcher and wife Jessica of Princeton; two daughters, Brenda S. Winters of Ferndale, WA and Theresa Ann Satterfield of Princeton, WV; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild; and two sisters, Beulah Jean Frye of Green Valley and Eunice Rife of McArthur, WV. In keeping with Jack's wishes, his body has been cremated. A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 11, 2011 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with Chaplain Paul F. Bricker officiating. The West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard and the Mercer County Veterans Council will conduct military rites. Friends may call at the funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until the service hour on Friday.
