Lewis Thornton, aged 68 years, farmer of the 12th District, died on December 29, 1944 at his home near Pearl City. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Shiloh Church at 2 o'clock, conducted by Elder R. A. Largen, assisted by Dr. Crockett. Burial in Shiloh Cemetery. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survived by his wife, Mrs. Donie Thornton; one daughter, Mrs. Edna Billingsley of Detroit, Michigan; one adopted son, Odie B. Thornton of Lincoln County; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Beddingfield and Mrs. Della Walls, both of Lincoln County; one brother, John Thornton of Toney, Alabama; several neices and nephews.
