Native of Polk County, NC; son of the late Thomas Henry and Martha Jane Madison Patterson; husband of Hazel Pruitt Patterson; first married to the late Cornelia West Patterson.
Former bus driver, used car dealer and textile employee; member of Southside Baptist Church.
Also surviving are sons, Kenneth Franklin, Ronald, and Hugh Douglas Patterson; daughter, Diane Dukart; stepdaughters, Mrs. R. E. O'Neal, Mrs. F. L. Baldwin; brothers, Lane and Fred Patterson; sisters, Violet Millwood and Bessie Gibson; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by a son, Robert Steven Patterson (6 Feb 1929 - 2 Apr 1929) and a daughter, Patricia Patterson 12 Oct 1939 - 15 Oct 1939).
