Patricia R. Dyer-Janicki
(August 17, 1936 - May 30, 2007) Patricia R. Dyer-Janicki, 71, of East Moline, went to join her mother in heaven Wednesday, May 30, 2007, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Services are 1 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Schroder Mortuary, Silvis. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service, and burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Rock Island no-kill animal shelter She was born August 17, 1936, in Davenport to Hugh and Elva Rogers Dyer. She married Joseph Janicki Jr. February 14, 1972, in Okinawa, Japan. She retired in 1993 as an inventory management specialist after 30 years of government service at the Rock Island Arsenal; Flint Kaserne, Bad Toelz, Germany; Silas B. Hayes Army Hospital, Fort Ord, A, and Okinawa, Japan. Pat had a very outgoing personality, strong character and a great sense of humor. She had a special love for kids and animals. She loved her dogs and cats and enjoyed sitting in her back yard watching the birds and squirrels chow down on the many different items she put out for feed. In her younger years, she enjoyed shooting pool, bowling, and she never missed a party. In her later years, she enjoyed her very close friends and an occasional visit to the area riverboats.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews, great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews; good friends, Diana Birlew, Morgan Deloose, Joseph Janicki, Sylvia Gillian, Jeannine Jones and Nancy Shonkwiler in Georgia; pets, Emma, Millie, Tootsi and Sinsin. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Pearl, Ruth, Elva, Betty and Mary; brothers, Bob, Dick and Donald.
