Born on Aug. 2, 1943 in Wells County to Charles L. and Stella I. (Ward) Stroud, he married Tammy L. Taylor on June 4, 1998 in Tennessee; she survives.
After graduating from Bluffton High School in 1961, he tried out for minor league baseball with the Cleveland Indians as a pitcher. A former employee at Franklin Electric, he was an employee of the Muncie Transit System the past 24 years. He attended Hope Missionary Church.
Other survivors include two sons, Troy L. Stroud of LaPorte and Kyle James Stroud of Bluffton; a daughter, Amy R. Stroud of Muncie; a twin brother, Joe (Sharon) Stroud of Markle; a brother, Richard (Ruth) Stroud of Liberty Center; a sister, Virginia (Walter) McMillen of Bluffton; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Thoma/Rich, Hewitt & Chaney Funeral Home with Pastor Gary Aupperle officiating. Calling hours there are Thursday from 3 to 9 p.m. and Friday for one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Mossburg Cemetery, Liberty Center. Preferred memorials are to the church, Family Hospice of NE Indiana, and Cancer Services of NE Indiana.
