Jack graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Class of 1952, as a mechanical engi-neer.
Following college, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was commissioned an ensign in 1953 at Newport Officer Candidate School, Newport, RI.
He graduated from the Engineering School of the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, in 1954, with a postgraduate degree in aerology. Jack was then assigned and served the U.S. Navy as an aerology officer at Barbers Point, Naval Air Station, in the territory of Hawaii.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jean M. Archie; sons Dave (Ann) and Tom (Lisa); daughter Susan Yohn (Wayne); and grandchildren Alex, Sam, Henry, Samantha, Ricki and Harry.
He was a member of DeWitt Community Church and passed on his beliefs to his children and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at DeWitt Community Church, 3600 Erie Blvd. East. The family will greet friends in the church parlor following the service. Contributions may be made to DeWitt Community Church or the charity of your choice.
