LAMESA - Mark Applin, 78, of Whitesboro died Sunday, Jan. 11, 1998, in a Sherman hospital. Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Assembly of God in Gainesville. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Lamesa Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Branon Funeral Home. He was born Jan. 6, 1920, in Elwood. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a self-employed truck
driver and was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Applin of Whitesboro; two sons, Marvin B. Applin of Snyder and Carl Dean Applin of Ruidoso, N.M.; three daughters, Barbara Ann Russell of
Cimarron, N.M., Betty Sue Cavin of Whitesboro and Marie Laverne Thatcher of Sherman; two brothers, Melvin Carl Applin of Hobbs, N.M., and Leon Huff Applin of Colorado City; a sister, Dorothy Nell Kidd of Lamesa; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
